Air Force advances innovation at “Spark Collider”
In Air Force-speak, the Spark Collider “will accelerate the matching of Air Force problems with viable solutions” by being equal parts speed dating, tech showcase and pitch sessions. The Air Force’s effort to innovate is part of a central tenet for defending the United States as outlined in the National Defense Strategy.

Goldfein’s 10-day trip across northern Europe focuses on partners and ‘great power’ realities
But there also was an unmistakable subtext connecting the stops in Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Germany and Greenland. The thread was this: each country has valuable experience and insights for operating effectively in an age of great power competition. That reality can help the United States and its allies fine-tune strategies for deterring – and if necessary, defeating – Russia and China.

Gen. Goldfein strengthens partnerships, gains valuable insights during visits to Estonia, Finland
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David L. Goldfein had a three-day visit to the two Northern European nations. It offered Goldfein and other senior U.S. leaders valuable opportunities to learn from Estonia about cyber operations and from Finland about its approach to expeditionary operations and agile basing, training and homeland defense.

Slife takes command of AFSOC
At a ceremony at Hurlburt Field, Florida, June 28, Lt. Gen. Jim Slife took command of Air Force Special Operations Command. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David L. Goldfein, presided over the ceremony where Slife took over for Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, who will go on to serve as the commander of Air Education and Training Command in the coming weeks.

CSAF presents Kolligian Trophy to T-38 pilot
During the ceremony, Goldfein stated that Heath's superb analysis and outstanding skill in response to this life-threatening emergency resulted in the safe recovery of two Airmen and an $8.2 million aircraft.

She praised the skill and dedication of Airmen while comparing lessons learned from gardening as a corollary for the qualities that make for good leaders and an effective Air Force secretary. You need a plan, she said; you need friends to help, meaning allies, and “as long as it’s safe, let people tinker with the tools.”

Air Force to pay up to $500 for spouse occupational license transfer during PCS
The Air Force announced the spouse relicensure reimbursement program, May 15, which would provide financial relief up to $500 to Airmen whose spouses must obtain state occupational relicensures or recertifications during a permanent change of station or assignment across state lines.
