Edwards welcomes, celebrates National American Indian Heritage Month

The Jimmy Lee Young Band performs at the National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month opening ceremony held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center Nov. 4. The band, who are all of partial or full native Indian descent, were just one of two local Native American Indian artists that were invited to participate in this kickoff event. The Department of Defense celebrates National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month every November in order to recognize native cultures and educate the public about the heritage, history, art, traditions and the contributions of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
