As a way to celebrate Women’s History Month, the 412th Test Wing conducted a panel for Women in Leadership at the Airmen and Family Readiness Center on Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., March 31.

In recognition of National Women's History Month, which celebrates the achievements and challenges faced by women throughout American history are honored throughout this month. It also highlights initiatives to promote equality in all parts of society.

WHM was originally a weeklong celebration passed by Congress in 1981. In 1987, the commemoration became a month long when the National Women's History Project petitioned Congress.

"Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope" is the topic for this month. The theme honors the contributions of caregivers, frontline workers, and women from all walks of life.

"Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to have had a number of outstanding mentors who have spent many hours shaping me into the person I am today, said Chief Master Sgt. Tiffany Patterson, 412th Medical Group Senior Enlisted Leader. “I want to be remembered as a servant leader who motivated individuals to be the greatest version of themselves and more than they imagined they could ever be for the future generation.”

The panel members shared their personal stories of the challenges they faced, such as Lt. Col. Kristine E. Thickstun, Deputy Commander, 412th Mission Support Group.

“When I was informed I couldn't go to an academy, couldn't join the military after graduating, and couldn't work in finance ever again,” she then proudly said, "here I am."
