WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio --
The Air Force Materiel Command will host a virtual mentoring panel focused on generations in the workplace, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. ET on Microsoft Teams.
The event is open to all AFMC uniformed and civilian personnel.
The 89,000 strong AFMC workforce is comprised of five different generational demographics: Silent Generation (born prior to 1946); Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964); Generation X (born 1965-1980); Millennials (born 1981-1996); and Generation Z (born 1997-2012).
With a theme of, “The Generational Mosaic: Piecing together the puzzle of experience,” the event will provide an opportunity to better understand diverse demographics through dialogue and experience sharing. The goal is to encourage cross-generational mentoring relationships across the organizations.
Dr. Kimberly Dickman, assistant professor, Center for Character and Leadership Development, U.S. Air Force Academy, will kick-off the event with an overview of generations in the workplace to include dynamics, differences, challenges and advantages of a multi-generational workplace.
Dickman’s presentation will be followed by an interactive panel discussion featuring diverse generational representatives from across the command.
The attendee link will be sent via email prior to the event. Individuals can submit questions for the panelists by emailing AFMC.A1DC.TrainingNeedsAssessments@us.af.mil.
