Are there tours of Edwards Air Force Base?
Yes. There are two types of tours offered here -- general public tours and large group tours.
Large groups are at least 15 people. General Public Tours are for smaller groups, like families, couples and individuals.
General Public tours are offered one Friday a month, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending around 2:30 p.m. The tour is free but reservations are required.
Large Group Tours are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays when the General Public Tour is not offered.
Most tours include visiting the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum, a windshield tour of the Edwards flightline and a tour of NASA Dryden Flight Research Center.
The tour dates for tours that still have seats available are:

Do you have a museum at Edwards? Is it open to the public?
The Air Force Flight Test Center Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for federal holidays and certain special events.
The museum is open to base personnel and individuals who have the appropriate credentials to enter the installation.
Although the base is closed to the general public, there is still an opportunity for the public to visit the museum through our general public tours program which is offered on first and third Fridays of each month. Reservations must be made in advance. Please visit the Contact Us page and select "Request a Tour."
I grew up at Edwards. Am I able to visit the base, housing areas, and schools? Where can I find information on Desert High School Alumni?
Edwards is a closed base. If you do not have a military I.D. card, you must be employed on base as a civilian and have the appropriate identification or you must be sponsored on by someone who lives or works here. In addition to a sponsor, you need a valid driver's license, auto registration and proof of insurance.
If you'd like to visit the base as part of our general public tours program, which includes a brief windshield tour of the housing area and schools, please visit the Contact Us page and select "Request a Tour."
Note, there is only one neighborhood that is the same as it was ten years ago, and it was built in 2000. Newer and more modern homes have replaced all the other neighborhoods as Edwards continues to improve its housing and facilities.
For up-to-date information and links to alumni, visit the official Desert High School Web site. You may also visit the Muroc Joint Unified School District Web site to find information about other schools.
When is the next Open House and Air Show?
Our open house and air show is slated for Saturday, October 17 -- one day only. The Thunderbirds will not be performing here this year. More details will be posted on our web site, www.edwards.af.mil, as they become available.
