YC-15 moves to new home

The YC-15 was one of only two prototypes built by McDonnell Douglas in response to an Air Force interest in developing an advanced medium short takeoff and landing transport to replace the C-130 Hercules. Edwards celebrates Global Hawk's 10-year birthday

The Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle lands here Feb. 28 after an eight-hour mission. The flight marked the 10th anniversary of the Global Hawk's first flight where the aircraft flew for one hour and reached an altitude of 32,000 feet above Edwards skies. Today, the Global Hawk has logged more than 20,000 flight hours, of which 15,000 were flown supporting warfighters in the Global War on Terror. (Air Force photo by Jim Shryne)

Buff in the rough

Volunteers move the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum's B-52 to the North Gate on Oct. 1. Maintainers from 912th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron towed the aircraft from the museum's maintenance hangar at North Base. Personnel from the 95th Civil Engineering and Transportation Directorate provided the expertise and equipment to move the static display almost half a mile across the desert on a tow road they had previously graded. Future improvements to the display area will include a small parking lot, walkways, signage and concrete pads under the landing gear. (Photo by Doug Nelson)

Century Circle display opens to public
