7/25/2012 - EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Edwards Air Force Base Environmental Management and the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron visited the Base Exchange July 19 in an effort to educate the community about the base's wildlife. As part of the 101 Critical Days of Summer, the wildlife safety event provided pamphlets on not feeding the wildlife and tips to prevent animal attacks on base. Among the animal displays shown, were a live Common King snake, a Gopher snake, and an exhibit of a Coyote, Bobcat and the fearsome Mojave Green snake. Exhibits gave patrons the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals in a controlled environment. Misty Hailstone and Karen Pestana, Edwards EM, along with Staff Sgt. Jhamie Cobb-Lee and Staff Sgt. David Simpson of the 31st TES, informed shoppers about the hazards of feeding wildlife and approaching unknown snakes. The safety event had an incredible turnout and spawned renewed interest in the amazing yet dangerous animals that Team Edwards cohabitate with here on base.
