What is the date of the air show?
The Flight Test Nation 2009 Open House and Air Show will take place Saturday, Oct. 17.

What time is the air show?
Gates are open from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

How much is the admission fee?
Admission and parking are free.

Will the Thunderbirds be performing?
The Thunderbirds will not be performing this year.

Will NASA or the Edwards Museum be open for visiting?
No, but there are general public tours of Edwards AFB and NASA throughout the year.  Click here for more information.

Will ATMs be available?
Yes. However, it is always best to be prepared by bringing cash.


tabPermitted/Prohibited Items 
Are folding/beach chairs allowed?
Yes.  Attendees may bring lawn chairs, shade umbrellas, blankets, large towels, etc., into the air show area.  However, please leave the lawn chair bags or containers in your car.

Are tents or awnings, pop-ups or shade canopies allowed?
No.  Only hand-held umbrellas are allowed.

Will outside food be allowed?
Only for people with valid medical conditions.

Will alcoholic beverages be allowed?
You may not bring alcoholic beverages to the air show.  Although beer will be available for purchase from air show vendors, alcoholic beverages, their containers, glass bottles or containers are not allowed on the ramp as broken glass can cause severe safety hazards.

May I bring coolers or backpacks?
Ice chests, backpacks, book bags, ruck sacks, attaché cases and boxes are prohibited from the flight line.  However, small coolers, generally the small floppy type for formula, baby food, etc., are allowed.  There are a number of portable toilets that have diaper changing facilities.  Purses may not be greater than 12"x12".  All hand carried items will be examined.  The screening process is similar to that done at the airport.  

May I bring my camera or video recorder?
Cameras, video recorders, binoculars and similar items are allowed.  However, for security reasons, be prepared to demonstrate that they are operable.

Will pets be allowed to enter the air show?
Attendees may not bring pets to the open house, nor may pets be left unattended in parked cars, vans or motor homes.

Will bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, or kick or electric scooters be allowed on the flightline?
No.  They are not allowed on the ramp or past our check points.

Are there any restrictions on bringing weapons to this event?
Yes.  Weapons, including, but not limited to, firearms, pocket knives, num chucks, brass knuckles, explosive devices, leatherman tools, scissors, replica/toy weapons, pepper spray, and large or heavy link chains, are not allowed and will be confiscated.  The state of California concealed weapons carry permits are not valid on Edwards AFB.

What are the rules on drug use?
Illegal drugs (including marijuana) are prohibited.  Edwards has zero tolerance for illegal drugs, and offenders are subject to prosecution.
