Father, son’s love for aviation inspires one ‘talon-ted’ creation
Rodger (left) and Brent Hecht pose with their 12-foot long T-38 Talon radio-controlled scale model on the Rosamond Dry Lakebed at the designated Muroc Model Masters flying field on Feb. 22, 2014. Rodger and Brent started flying R/C models with the Muroc Model Masters R/C Club nearly 20 years ago and decided to build their T-38 with an 82-inch wingspan. The fully-functional model weighs approximately 45 pounds, has two 5-inch electric ducted fans powered by brushless motors and the airframe is made of blue foam, carbon fiber, fiber glass, balsa wood and plywood.
