Father, son’s love for aviation inspires one ‘talon-ted’ creation
Brent Hecht (right) performs a high-speed, low-level fly-by, alongside his dad, Rodger, on the Rosamond Dry Lakebed Feb. 22. Rodger and Brent started flying radio-controlled models with the Muroc Model Masters R/C Club nearly 20 years ago and decided to build their 12-foot long T-38 Talon with an 82-inch wingspan. The fully-functional model weighs approximately 45 pounds, has two 5-inch electric ducted fans powered by brushless motors and the airframe is made of blue foam, carbon fiber, fiber glass, balsa wood and plywood.
