Total Force Airmen and their families can now connect with wingmen around the globe through Air Force Gaming.

As the official gaming program and competition hub for the U.S. Air and Space Forces, Air Force Gaming launched in 2020 as an initiative to promote resiliency, mental acuity, and competitive excellence through video games.

“This is a program created by Airmen, for Airmen, as a way to keep us all connected,” said Master Sgt. Chris Cernigliaro, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Detachment 7 software engineer and Air Force Gaming community moderator.

According to Air Force Gaming officials, 86 percent of Airmen and Guardians between the ages of 18 and 34 identify as gamers. The AF Gaming platform is open to Department of the Air Force personnel of all ages and ranks and includes a variety of interests and competitive levels.

While installations typically have intramural sport teams, Staff Sgt. Ananieze Shelton, 66th Medical Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of Community Health Management and Hanscom Air Force Gaming ambassador, says those programs don’t suit everyone.

“Competitive gaming is a different opportunity to be a part of team, go to tournaments, strategize, and be involved in representing your base,” said Shelton.

Ambassadors here said Air Force Gaming includes much more than just video games, catering to the entirety of what could be considered a game.

“It also includes trading cards and tabletop games, like chess and Dungeons and Dragons,” said Andrew Lane, 66th Force Support Squadron community program manager and Hanscom Air Force Base Gaming ambassador. “Whatever you can think of, there’s likely someone in the community who would enjoy playing alongside you.”

The AF Gaming platform also serves as a dashboard for gaming communities, news, and upcoming competitions.

To register with Air Force Gaming, individuals should visit www.AirForceGaming.com. Users must confirm their U.S. Air or Space Force affiliation to confirm their accounts.

Dependents over 13 can create a profile under their Air Force-affiliated sponsor’s account.
