AF taps a dozen captains for Inter-American SOS

A dozen active-duty captains have been selected to attend the 2015 Inter-American Squadron Officer School at the Inter-American Air Forces Academy, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland here, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced Sept. 10.

Fiscal year 2015 class dates will be Oct. 9 through Dec. 10, 2014; Feb. 17 through April 15, 2015, and June 8 through Aug. 5, 2015.

Captains selected to attend include Eduardo Barajas, Christopher Bukowski, Benjamin Coffman, Benjamin Garoutte, Derrick Kline, Luis Maldonado, Bradley Mumford, Fernando Ortega, Rosemberg Ortiz, Alejandro Reyes, Claudio Santo and Angel Serna.

"The ISOS program is designed to develop dynamic Airmen ready to lead air, space, and cyberspace power in an expeditionary war-fighting environment," said AFPC Force Development Operations Chief 1st Lt. Kyle Seifert. "Students practice leadership and managerial skills, using lessons on leadership, military ethics, Air Force core values and human rights."

ISOS mirrors the SOS in-residence course at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, but additional objectives developing inter-American awareness and developing a cadre of potential Latin American regional affairs specialists, Seifert explained. Program graduates will earn primary developmental education credit through Air University.
