Wagner swears in as Department of the Air Force manpower, reserve affairs lead

Alex Wagner was sworn in as the assistant secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs during a Pentagon ceremony June 10, following his confirmation to the role by the U.S. Senate, June 8.

Wagner, the former chief of staff to the Secretary of the U.S. Army, was most recently Aerospace Industries Association’s vice president for strategic initiatives, focusing on talent and workforce policy as well as developing strategic partnerships to tell the story of technological innovation and the people who drive it.

In his newest capacity, Wagner is responsible for the supervision of matters related to manpower, military and civilian personnel, Reserve component affairs and readiness support for nearly 700,000 members across the Department of the Air Force.

“Congratulations to Alex on his Senate confirmation and joining the Department of the Air Force team,” said Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall. “With a history of service in government, the legal field, and commercial industry, Alex is the ideal leader to drive forward efforts to support our total force Airmen and Guardians, and their families.
